Pairwork Speaking Activity - Major Historical Events. Cut out the cards to use for a pairwork activity – one person must say the date correctly and describe the event, the other must guess the event.
Alternatively, one partner can try to guess the event by asking questions, e.g. “When did this event happen?”, “Was a person born on this date?”, or "Was it the Vietnam War?". Notes: I developed this activity for one of my French private students who has trouble with the Past Simple interrogative form and dates in English – feel free to change the events on the cards so they are more relevant to your students :)
