How Many Things Can You Name That Are...

It's a warm-up activity which will undoubtedly wake your students up! I use it very often and in always engage students and makes them ask for the next round. This activity is open to your creativity.
1. You can decide to put students in pairs or groups of 3 or SS can work indvidually (if the class is approximately on the same level).
2. Write the words How many things can you name that are ... on the board and then give the description
- that are round or
- that are fluffy or
- that are made of paper or
- that are bigger than you etc. you can create your onw category which is on the level of your Ss
3. SS are supposed to write down as many things that fit into particular description as they can within a particular time limit for e.g. 2 minutes
4. The group or pair which has the greatest number of words wins a plus :)
