Christmas In England: Adjectives Exercise

This is a British English reading comprehension and cloze procedure that I am using this week with my secondary school age students to teach adjectives. First I will have them read the text in turn aloud and check pronunciation and comprehension. The first page has 45 different adjectives for them to highlight and copy into a table. This table can then be used to help those with a lower level to complete the cloze on page 2. For students with a higher level, they can think of their own adjectives. There are many possible variations and extensions to the activity. For example, find the nouns or verbs; have the children change the text into past simple. For a writing activity, they could describe Christmas or another festival where they live.
