At the end of class, have students come together and create a “press conference,” a plan to meet the press, played by the teacher. Students’ job is to report on a specific aspect of the course content or something that happened in class, but they have to “spin it”—that is, give their own perspective on it that they want the press to believe in. Students can work in groups to create a different conference based on different events or aspects of the content.
From this, students master course content and learn something about bias and perspective.
