In the last part of class, have students create a TV commercial involving the course content of the day. Remind them of the purpose of a TV commercial, to persuade the viewer to buy something. The student commercials should persuade the viewer to “buy” their perspective on the topic. such as reasons to end a war.
Students can then work in groups to script, direct, and perform the commercial. This is good team work practice, practice with the content material and perspectives on it, and use of persuasive language.
