How many verb do you know that have the same (or nearly the same) meaning as 'to say'?
This worksheet contains 81 (!) of such verbs - each on a separate card. It's up to you how you are going to use them. Here's just a few ways:
1) Cut up, put them into a hat or a bag, have each student pull one out and make a logical sentence with it.
2) Have Ss come up with a story using at least five of these verbs. Best works if the students are working in groups.
3) Have Ss explain the difference between a few verbs that you choose.
4) Have Ss group the verbs according to certain criteria (positive/negative, etc).
You can also make good use of these cards when teaching or practising Reported Speech.
